Meet David and Mary Lee

Mary gave David his first camera as a wedding gift in 1979, and the next year, they  founded Photography by Lee in Washington, Illinois. David studied under Master Photographers Donald Jack, Bud Reese, Skipworth and others before furthering his studies at the Winnona School of Photography. He holds a Master of Photography Degree and is nationally certified.

 

David has won has won dozens of state and national recognitions. He has won Senior Photographer International's "Photographer of the Year" award three times, and he is the only Illinois photographer to ever win Senior Photographer of the Year on a national level. David is a highly sought-after speaker and judge for photography conventions and competitions.

 

When they aren't photographing, Mary and David enjoy camping, traveling, spending time at the Peoria German-American Society, and visiting their two grown daughters, Amanda and Angela and their husbands. 

 

What makes Photography by Lee different?

David says, "First, the experience. We find a way to make being photographed a fun and enjoyable experience. When you're having a good time, you look better. Whether you're 5 or 75, it doesn't matter. Our goal is to capture the essence of this person or group and to do that we have to get beyond the 'traditional' photographic experience. Second is that I hate doing the same thing over and over so I really enjoy the challenge of creating something new for each of my clients."
